Elevated service reservoirs or elevated water tanks are the landmarks for the efficient water distribution system and form important component of the water distribution system. These structures have large mass concentrated at the top of slender supporting structure hence these structures are especially vulnerable to horizontal forces due to earthquake and wind. This book will be useful to Civil Engineers to understand the behaviour of elevated service reservoir for various staging height and also to get the feel of effect of earthquake zones and soil conditions on earthquake forces on water tank; similarly the effect of wind zones and terrain category on wind forces on water tank. This book also outlines causes of distress and failure of elevated service reservoirs and steps to be taken for minimizing the same to ensure long service life of the structure.

Biografia:
Dr. Suchita Hirde has obtained her Ph. D. degree in Structural Engineering in 2003. Currently she is working as Professor in Applied Mechanics Department in Govt. College of Engineering, Karad, Satara, India. She has total teaching experience of 22 years. She has many research publications in national and international journals to her credits.
